Akasa Air Flight Returns to Delhi After Security Alert Mid-Air
An Akasa Air flight from New Delhi to Bengaluru was forced to return to Indira Gandhi International Airport on Wednesday due to a security alert, the airline confirmed. Flight QP 1335, carrying 174 passengers, including infants, and seven crew members, was diverted as a precautionary measure. The airline stated that emergency protocols were followed to ensure a safe landing, with their Emergency Response teams actively monitoring the situation and coordinating with local authorities to assist passengers.
Meanwhile, an IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Delhi was also diverted to Ahmedabad following a bomb threat. This marks the second such incident for IndiGo in two days, as multiple flights across various airlines have been targeted with threats.
Over the past 48 hours, ten flights, including those from Air India and SpiceJet, have faced bomb threats, prompting heightened security and counter-terrorism drills at multiple airports. A notable incident involved Singapore deploying fighter jets to escort an Air India Express flight following a threat. Indian authorities, in collaboration with cyber-security teams, are investigating the sources of these online threats, with the safety of passengers remaining a top priority.
